The new routes offer customers a range of travel options, from winter sports and city breaks in the French Alps via Lyon, to winter sun holidays on Egypt’s Red Sea coast in Sharm el-Sheikh.

easyJet holidays is also offering package holidays to both destinations, including flights and hotel, providing customers with great value and added convenience. All packages benefit from Ultimate Flexibility, giving customers the freedom to amend or cancel a booking.

easyJet and easyJet holidays have introduced a Book with Confidence Promise to reassure customers on their travel plans. The pledge guarantees that flight and package prices will not increase once booked and confirms that easyJet intends to operate a full schedule across its network as it prepares to fly over 50 million passengers this summer.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said:
“We’re really pleased to be putting these new routes from London Southend to Lyon and Sharm el-Sheikh on sale for flights and holidays, offering customers even more choice when travelling from the region. Whether it’s hitting the slopes or enjoying some winter sun, these destinations provide great value options for our customers and to travel with ease. We look forward to welcoming even more customers on board for their winter holidays.”

Nigel Mayes, Business Development Director at London Southend Airport, said:
“We welcome these further additions to the easyJet network, taking London Southend’s destination count to the milestone figure of 30 across the year. Our customers are constantly telling us they want more choice from London Southend, so Lyon is a great addition as not only fortifies our ski offer to resorts like Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes and Les Trois Vallées but it also adds another European winter city break option to the existing routes to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast, Berlin, Budapest, Edinburgh and Paris. For those customers wanting to grab some winter sun and all that Sharm El Sheikh has to offer, they need to ‘Walk like an Egyptian’ to their local travel agent and get their holiday booked from London Southend – the easy, speedy, friendly airport.”
easyJet offers 29 routes from London Southend to popular beach and city destinations including Tenerife, Berlin, Jersey, Barcelona, Antalya and Palma, flying on three based aircraft and employing 140 pilots and crew as well as engineers.

With a catchment area the same size as Switzerland and around eight million people living within an hour of the airport, the base at London Southend provides easyJet with further growth opportunities in the UK leisure travel and package holiday market.
